For the members who are in ARRL, The March issue of QST has two articles
related to emergency communications.
The first is "CERT and Neighborhood Watch: An Opportunity for ARES". If one
has taken the ARRL EmComm classes then the use of CERT is an important link
for communities using MURS or GMRS hopefully with a local hsm to provide
amateur communications support.
The second article is "Launching A Club for Emergency Communications". It
discusses the author's experiences starting an amateur club in Spanish
Fort, AL. It's interesting in that it discusses the formation of a club and
some of the things CARA AUXCOMM does such as hurricane preparedness, STEM
and establishing relations with the local EOC.
Just an observation.
