Hello,

We'll resume some digital mode practice this Wednesday, Feb 4th at 8 pm. The CARA repeater system will be used for coordination.

The objective for this session is to practice receiving an ICS form from Winlink and replying to the originator. I'll send an ICS-213 General Message form to your Winlink account (i.e. your callsign). You'll then grab the message by radio via your nearest Winlink gateway or use a Telnet session if the radio option isn't working for you.

After receiving and opening the ICS-213 form, you will generate a reply within the ICS-213. The form itself explains how to do that via a pop-up. Then post the reply to your Outbox and send into the Winlink system via radio or Telnet. I'll then pull the replies off of the Winlink system. Success is receiving replies from all participants.

A few hints:

1. Make sure your version of Winlink Express and Forms is up to date. This is easy. When you launch Winlink Express, assuming you have internet access, it goes out to check if there's a new version of the program and if there's an update to the forms file. If so, it will prompt you to allow updates. It's critical to have the same version of a form in order to display and reply.

2. Watch the Winlink Forms video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_d7GmNfSuQ

The whole video is worth watching because it shows several features on Winlink Express you probably don't know about. But if time is critical, fast forward to time 47:30 where the video shows how to reply to an ICS-213.

3. Local Winlink Gatewys include:
KC3WRX-10 on 145.030MHz located in Prince Frederick
KB2SKP-12 on 145.070 MHz located in Hollywood MD
WG3K-10 on 145.070 located in Chesapeake Beach

And our K3CAL-1 digipeater on 145.070 can be used if needed to reach a gateway on that same frequency.

tnx
