> There is an enhanced winter storm threat for this Sunday, with rain after 0100 Sunday morning mixing with snow as early as 0400. Snow will continue through Sunday daytime, possibly mixed with rain but becoming all snow after 1600. Expected snowfall totals for Calvert County range from less than an inch in the southern portion of the county to around 2 inches in the northern portion. Peak snowfall rates Sunday afternoon are expected to be around ½ inch per hour. Uncertainty remains as to snowfall quality but NWS currently anticipates it will be heavier and wetter compared to recent accumulation.

> The high for Sunday is 36 with a low around 29 during the day and 16 overnight. Below-freezing temperatures will continue Sunday night through Wednesday morning, with highs in the low 20s and lows in the single digits. Dangerously cold wind chills will bring “real feel” temperature values below zero. Per NWS, these temperatures are near historic lows for our region.

> For next week’s cold temps, EM will coordinate with response partners as outlined in the Extreme Cold Plan; however, we do not anticipate activating the EOC at this time. EM will continue to monitor and provide additional updates if requested or if conditions change.
