[CALV-AUXCOMM] AUXCOMM Meeting on Aug 16 and Winlink Practice

It's time for some digital mode practice, starting with Packet Winlink.  After some time on that, we'll move on to MT63 on 10M and 2M,  and also Winlink using VARA FM (yep...time to learn VARA).
 
Starting today at 5pm, I will have my 2M Winlink station parked on 145.750 and set to receive Packet Winlink P2P messages.  I'll continue to have the station on daily from about 9am to 9pm, thunderstorms permitting.  Please try to send me a P2P Packet Winlink message.   If you can't reach my station directly, thy going through the K3CAL-1 digipeater which is located on the State Highway tower in Prince Frederick.
 
If you can't reach me through the digipeater, try sending me a test message via a Winlink Gateway.   A list of gateways and their frequencies is attached.  KB2SKP-12 in Hollywood on 145.070 is a reliable gateway that can be reached by most spots in Calvert.
 
If you're having problems, give me a call and I'll try to help.
 
I will acknowledge all messages via both an email and a response via a Winlink gateway.
 
 
MEETING ON AUGUST 16 - 7pm at the Harriet Brown Community Center in Prince Frederick
 
Our monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 16, will be devoted to solving any problems you may be having with Winlink software or associated station hardware.  I'll bring my go-kit and be ready to work with you on getting Packet Winlink and/or VARA FM straightened out.  Bring your station.
 
 
SIMULATED EMERGENCY TEST - OCT 7
 
For those that missed the CARA meeting last night, Jim, WB3KAS, our Section Emergency Coordinator, gave a presentation on plans for this fall's SET.  We will post those slides on our AUXCOMM web site.  In short, the plan is to simulate deployments by having three-person teams locate and photograph geodetic survey markers within their respective counties.  The locations of these markers are known.
