[CALV-AUXCOMM] Net Instead of Meeting on Dec 21 - 7:30PM

This short YouTube video demonstrates sending & receiving an ARRL radiogram over a voice channel. There's a slight difference in the way a message is sent using CW vs SSB.

Note the speaking speed the transmitting station uses in order to allow the receiving station time to write down the message. In this example, it's slightly too fast IMHO unless the receiving station is proficient and experienced in message handling.

Also note the use of two standard phrases:

"Figures" - indicates a number will follow
"I Spell" - indicates that the next word is uncommon and will be sent phonetically letter by letter. Typically used for sending a person's surname unless the surname is very common (Smith, Jones).

And here's another good video on "your first message."

I'm NOT a traffic handler so we are starting from the same point. If anyone in Calvert AUXCOMM does handle traffic routinely, your help would be appreciated during the Wednesday net.
