[CALV-AUXCOMM] Prep for May 22 Exercise & Please "Pick-a-Spot"

Calvert AUXCOMM members,

Just a reminder that the May 22 exercise is not far away.   We will be using FLDIGI with the MT63-1000L and the MT63-2000L digital modes during the exercise, using the CARA 146.985 repeater for coordination.  I strongly recommend you practice with FLDIGI and MT63 modes with your radio and computer gear BEFORE the exercise.  

Several of us have "worked out the bugs" and are prepared to meet you on the air to give you a chance to get things working at your end.  Just post a message to this reflector with a proposed date, time, band and mode and hopefully one of us can meet up with you on the air.   As a reminder, we will be running FLDIGI on 10M, 6M, 2M and possibly 70cm using upper side band or FM modulation, based upon what your own station can handle.   Today several of our group exchanged  MT63-2000L  messages successfully THROUGH the W3PQS repeater rather than using simplex.  There's every reason to believe the same is possible using the CARA 2M repeater so we can try that too.  MT63-2000L was so robust that a message came through without error even when the repeater voice ID's on top of our transmission.

Assuming the weather cooperates on May 22nd, I encourage you to operate portable provided your equipment can handle FLDIGI on one or more of the exercise bands and modes.  Should the weather not be cooperative we'll operate from our home QTH's.

Request all participating stations send me their target portable location.

I plan to operate from the Calvert Fair Grounds off of Rt 231 unless the Saturday flea market folks chase me off.  If that happens I'll set up at Hallowing Point Park further down Rt 231.
