AUXCOMM Members.

Bill and I would like to update you on our efforts to update the RACES infrastructure in the county. The county has ordered all the equipment we requested (competitive bid won by Holzberg Communications in New Jersey). Although we have not set eyes on all of them, our antennas are reported to be installed on the county towers per our request.

The attached Word doc summarizes our recent site trip to both EOC's and the Barstow tower. It includes a summary of the RACES antenna load-outs and a top level system diagram. Hopefully the attachment made it through the reflector. The complexity of the system was driven by the limitations for antenna placement at both EOC's (small antennas at roof top level only) requiring the use of RemoteRigs to control radio decks at the Barstow tower site. That site also has a dedicated TM-V71A intended to serve as a cross-band repeater (70cm to 2M) for backup communications from the EOC's should the county intranet VLAN go down.

We're planning on going over the whole system in detail during the December CARA Zoom meeting. But you're welcome to look at the attachment and ask any questions during tonight's AUXCOMM net (7:30 on the 146.985 repeater).
