I'm in.  This might be the lever to get me off center in getting WinLink or other packet ops back in shape.  I may have to deploy to be able to reach another station but that's always part of my personal ops plan.

Subject: [CALV-AUXCOMM] Volunteers Needed for May 30 Drill

Calvert AUXCOMM Members,

I'm looking for at least four volunteers to participate in a simulated Red Cross/ARES drill on Saturday, May 30th.  There are two segments for the drill, the first segment running from 0800 local to 1200 local, and the second segment running from 1300 local for a few hours.

All operation would be from your home QTH.  No deployment necessary.  VHF/UHF digital and voice will probably be sufficient.

The draft scenario involves 5 "sites" with specific responsibilities, hence the need for 5 operators (me and at least 4 volunteers):

The EC (me)
Shelter Operations
Warehouse Operations
Food Services
Transportation

Our method(s) for handling traffic within the county is up to us....Winlink, voice, packet, whatever,  but Winlink is preferred since some traffic may need to utilize Red Cross forms like ARC 6409, which has a template available in Winlink Express.  Plus Winlink automatically generates am ICS 309 Communications Log making it much easier to document the exercise.

There are about four pre-planned injects requiring traffic among the above "sites."  There may also be some injects from or to adjacent counties.

If you are interested in participating in this exercise, please let me know by Wednesday evening, May 13th.  I'll send out additional details to those that volunteer.  Happy to have more than four volunteers as it would allow us to "open" another shelter or assign someone to handle traffic to/from adjacent counties.

A final note ... while this exercise simulates support of the Red Cross, actual Red Cross participants may or may not be involved in the exercise.  This is still TBD.

tnx

Shawn
