>> Arrival of fall means another Simulated Emergency Test, or SET, which is typically held in early October. Our Section Emergency Coordinator, Jim Montgomery, WB3KAS, recently contacted me regarding early planning by the Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) for an exercise "Ocean City Hurricane Evacuation." The MEMA exercise plan is independent of the SET but Jim was hoping to tie the two together, using the MEMA exercise as an opportunity for the MDC section SET scenerio. The MEMA plan, however, currently lacks much detail including even the date (guessing September or October) so it's very unlikely the MDC section SET will be tied to the MEMA exercise. But if you would like to be placed in a "ready list" to participate in this MEMA exercise when it does happen, please let me know. I assume it would mean driving over to Ocean City and the likely assignment would be keeping track of exercise participants boarding evacuation buses. The call-up could be on fairly short notice.
