All,

Instead of a meeting this month, I'd like to try something involving packet on 2M.

As you know, Winlink Packet peer-to-peer is essentially a point-to-point messaging system in that a third party cannot monitor the message exchange using Winlink Express.

What I'd like to try on the 15th is to have most of you monitor 145.750 using your TNC with whatever terminal program you like (Simple Terminal is OK). I'll exchange some peer-to-peer messages with (prelim list) K3UGA and N3PPH using the K3CAL-1 digipeater at Mt Hope. I'd like to see if any parts of the message can be deciphered by monitoring packets using just your TNC tied to your terminal program on your PC.

The answer is probably NO but this would be a good exercise to get your gear ready working and ready.

Please note that the latest version of Winlink Express is 1.5.18.0 and it no longer has a link to Simple Terminal under the Help tab. If you install the latest Winlink Express or upgrade to it, you will have to start Simple Terminal by finding it's .exe file and double-clicking on it. It's likely to be located in "C:\RMS\RMS Simple Terminal" if you did a standard installation.

The activity will begin at 7:30 PM local on Tuesday, Jan 15th. We will use the 146.985 repeater for exercise coordination (assuming it's repaired and up). Otherwise we'll use 28.350 USB.
