[CALV-AUXCOMM] April AUXCOMM Meeting

I will not be available in April for our normal third Tuesday meeting.    Instead, I'm proposing we meet on Wednesday, April 25th,  7pm at Three Brother's in Prince Frederick.


It's difficult to find a date that accommodates everyone but hopefully the 25th will be OK.


As you may have heard, the County has fallen significantly behind schedule with their new public service radio improvement project, which means their plans to purchase and install equipment for AUXCOMM has also fallen behind as well.  The delay looks to be at least a year and possibly longer.


So... the agenda for April 25th is how we might go about putting together a viable emergency communications system in Calvert WITHOUT the use of any county or state government facilities (towers. antennas. buildings, etc).  This includes not counting on the 146.985 repeater as well.   Sounds pretty extreme, but I thought a good brain storming session based on these assumptions may lead to some good ideas.   Ideas include a separate repeater(s) on private property, perhaps 10M simplex, NVIS schemes using compact antennas, our own MESH network, etc.  Any ideas short of using smoke signals or megaphones are welcome.
