[CALV-AUXCOMM] AUXCOMM Meeting Feb 21st with Door Prizes

Shawn and the gang,

In looking at number 3, would CALV ARES be interested in our Annual PRGE ARES Breakfast Deployment on March 18?  It's our fourth year I the running and very successful.
 
We have three VFD houses lined up in Brentwood, Laurel, Bowie and possibly Brandywine willing to host us for a day.  We set up HF and VHF/UHF and communicate among us with Winlink P2P, Packet through Nodes and P2P as well.  All coordinated on a common repeater.
 
The three teams agree to meet at three restaurant in their area early Saturday and wait for my text to "deploy" to their respective venues.  Some will cater in food for lunch and invite the firefighters and follow up with a photo op.  That's about the size of if.  You can meet anywhere you like, it does not have to be a firehouse, but makes for great PR work. If interested, just let me know.

Our next AUXCOMM meeting is Tuesday, February 21st, 7:30PM at the county services building.


Agenda:


1. Packet system troubleshooting.  Bring your TNC, cables and radio if you're having problems getting the gear to work.  I'll bring a dummy load, a laptop and a full packet station for testing.
2. Continue discussion started at the last meeting about possible fun training activities for the spring & summer. 
1. County-wide team fox hunt (operators at different locations work together over radio to triangulate the fox).
2. Packet mini-field day.  Deploy to local parks and set up a net on 2M packet.  Practice Winlink P2P.

DOOR PRIZE:


There will be two door prizes given away at the next meeting, a pair of AEA PK-232 TNC's that I have repaired and re-calibrated.  I only ask that if you already have a functioning TNC, you don't draw a ticket for the prizes.
