Well, it feels like we usually have some sort of tropical system coming
through during Labor Day weekend and this one is no different.  Tropical
Storm Hermine is hanging out in the Gulf of Mexico just building up a
bit before coming into Florida.  The timing of the storm is still a bit
up in the air as the NHC has been forecasting a turn to the NNE but
Hermine has been taking it's own sweet time doing so.  As of the 0400
CDT advisory (number 15) Hermine appears to have started making the turn
and should become a hurricane just before making landfall in Florida.

There is still much uncertainty of its path once it get into North
Carolina early Saturday morning.  It is possible (10-20% chance) that
we'll see tropical storm force winds late Saturday into Sunday.  NO
WATCHES OR WARNINGS HAVE BEEN ISSUED AS OF THIS ADVISORY FOR MARYLAND.

Now is an excellent time to make sure that your batteries are charged
up, that your antennas are secure, that your family is prepared, and
your home is ready for the storm.

As what usually happens when severe weather hits here, I'll be down in
North Carolina as I have a special invitation to a hurricane party (the
kind that only gets delayed on a count of sunshine).  I'll be watching
this storm closely and will be working with the AECs to make sure all is
ready to go in my absence.
