Eric,
6 hours for me is more than enough. Because of all the noise on the repeater I sent all my (9) reports, via email. 6 to Shawn, 2 to you, and 1 to NOAA direct @0300. Saturday's 1500 & 1800 report was not made because I was sleeping.
I did listen to the repeater and did acknowledge that I sent an email. Radios sounded very bad, w3pqs fired up his VHF to 100 watts and that worked well, he relayed many messages. The only other stations that had good copy were the ones that used echo link. Imagine that, echo link worked perfectly and was coming from a low antenna and lower power than n3pph VHF station. That's one for the books.
We could have called a SKYWARN net as many of us did attend that class last year or maybe the year before, and many had done the winter storm class last year (during a snow storm) took the instructor about four hours to get to Landover Hills.
There is probably 8 to 10 CARA members class certified for net control, but to my knowledge none have signed up as point of contact.
We may have had more impact with NOAA if our SKYWARN ID numbers were included in the reports.
If the record I don't believe we have done SKYWARN reporting for Calvert as a club since I have been a member.
There are some occasional serious problems with the 2 meter repeater for over the air stations that needs to be addressed. (Weather related??)
Just my observations.
Sent from my iPad,
Best Regards, 73,
Jim Tetlow
