The weather models are coming into more of a consensus of a large quantity of snow beginning Friday.  The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory starting Wednesday at 6:00 PM until midnight ( http://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=MDZ018&warncounty=MDC009&firewxzone=MDZ018&local_place1=Chesapeake%20Beach%20MD&product1=Winter+Weather+Advisory&lat=38.6745&lon=-76.5396 ) and a Blizzard Watch starting Friday afternoon going until late Saturday night ( http://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=MDZ018&warncounty=MDC009&firewxzone=MDZ018&local_place1=Chesapeake%20Beach%20MD&product1=Blizzard+Watch&lat=38.6745&lon=-76.5396 ) .

It was thought that southern Maryland might get more of a rain/snow mix but this is quickly changing to all snow for the two storms that are approaching.
Wednesday storm
Tonight's storm is likely to affect the southern portion of Calvert County more than the northern portion with the southern section getting between 1 to 2 inches of accumulation.  Minimal impact is expected.

Activation is not expected for this storm.
Weekend storm
The entire area is under a Blizzard Watch with the expectation of heavy snow and strong winds.  The National Weather Service has said that Saturday through Saturday night will have a "high threat of high impact winter storm with significant travel delays, closures, and threats to life and property".

Now is the time to plan for your personal safety ( http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/winter/before.shtml ) .

Activation is likely.  We will likely go to a standby mode sometime on Friday.
Updates
Additional updates will be posted here as they become available (updates aren't emailed out so check back frequently).

The NWS forecast and all advisories ( http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=38.67449266020918&lon=-76.53958745579564 ) can be found on their website.  The Capital Weather Gang is also live blogging information ( https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/capital-weather-gang/wp/2016/01/19/model-live-blog-assessing-late-week-heavy-snow-threat/ ) regarding predictions specific to the DC area on their website.
