[CALV-ARES] Hurricane Joaquin

Good morning weather fans,

Overnight, Tropical Storm Joaquin got her business together and became
Hurricane Joaquin. The storm is still meandering to the west and hurricane
watches and warnings have been posted for the Bahamas.

The official forecast[0] has Joaquin off the Virginia/Maryland coastline early
Monday morning. Confidence in the forecast position and strength of Joaquin
out 5 days remains very low. The models[1], however, do seem to be getting
more into agreement with a possible landfall happening somewhere between Cape
Hatteras and Delaware. THIS IS ALL SPECULATION AT THIS POINT.

My main concern with a hurricane coming into the area, now, is all the rain
we're getting now. Western Maryland and northern Virginia saw a lot of
rainfall last night with flooding being reported. Unfortunately, a lot of
rainfall before a lot of wind can mean trees coming down taking out power
lines with it.

I encourage everyone to keep an eye on the official publications from the
National Weather Service and be prepared to take action.
