While preparedness should be an on-going activity, time should be set aside to go over your family emergency plan ( http://www.ready.gov/make-a-plan ) , check your supplies ( http://www.ready.gov/build-a-kit ) , test your generator (or other power backup system) under load, and familiarize yourself with the emergency plans from your community.

Each week will focus on a specific type of emergency:

* Week 1 - Flood
* Week 2 - Wildfire
* Week 3 - Hurricane
* Week 4 - Power Outage
* Week 5 - Culmination of everything with a lead up to National PrepareAthon! Day ( https://www.community.fema.gov/ )  (September 30th).

These activities also lead up to this year's Simulated Emergency Test ( https://ares.k3cal.org/2015/08/01/mdc-section-set-plans/ )  (SET) which will be a hurricane and flooding event.  Remember, you can't respond to help your community if you aren't, yourself, prepared.  Now is the time to get your plan and equipment in order.
