[CALV-ARES] BPQ in Charles County

Does this take more equipment for individual operators? Or just different software? Or the same software that we have already? Messaging throughout the tri-county area is important.

Bob, Charles County EC, and Jim, MDC SEC, have been working on a BPQ system

that handles both Winlink and traditional "BBS-style" messaging in one system.

Here is what they have setup right now.

My thought is that we could do
something similar at the Prince Frederick site
which would give us good
messaging coverage in the county, provide access
outside of the county, and
could be used both during emergencies and for
regular
use.

Thoughts?

Hi Eric,
I just wanted to update you on some
changes Jim (WB3KAS) and I have put
in at Collington. The node there is a

BPQ node and it's currently running the following freqs:

 1) 145.750Mhz
(1200bd)
 2) 445.975Mhz (9600bd - testing)
 3) 80m (3570Khz I think)
 4) 40M
(7070Khz)

based on how the message is addressed the BPQ will make a logic
decision
on if to send it to the RMS or to the
 next node in the chain.

If that be a bit to far away, then the other two nodes are the WB3KAS

(Brandywine) and the KB3KOW (Waldorf) node.

Not sure if you want to play
or work have time to play? If you have
questions, I can follow up with an
email later today.

I am down at your old haunts of NCTAMS Lant for the
week.
