[CALV-ARES] Duplication of messages

Good morning,

I was talking with Dave W3PQS this morning and he reminded me of an
issue I knew I was introducing and have, until now, not explained.
Luckily it's a technical and process issue so it's quite easy to remedy.

Our website allows us to send an email out when something is posted
there. This makes it quite easy to keep up with what's happening and
get a fairly quick notification to new content. Several people (around
fifteen) subscribed to this service so you'd receive the information in
your inboxes. Then I came along an threw a wrench into the whole thing.
I subscribed our mailing list to the blog so that the email that comes
from the website would go to the mailing list. This means that everyone
on the mailing list gets the update as well as people that have directly
subscribed to the website. This, obviously, has led to duplication.

The fix is simple. If you receive duplicate messages, and you don't
want to receive duplicate, just select the link at the bottom of the
message that comes from the website (not the mailing list) to
unsubscribe.

Currently, my plan is to pass website emails to the mailing list as a
way to maintain the record and allow people to reply to those messages
to start a discussion. If you don't like this plan please let me know
and we can talk about it.

73,
Eric W4OTN/3
