This weekend looks to be shaping up to be a windy one.  I noted a tree had fallen across the roadway near my house last night in the "breeze".  Of course, high winds could mean power outages and roadway closures.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch for the entire area, including Calvert County, through the weekend:
1128 AM EST FRI FEB 13 2015

...HIGH WIND WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY EVENING
THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...

* TIMING...NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE BEHIND A STRONG COLD
FRONT SATURDAY EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH POTENTIAL FOR WIND GUSTS UP
TO 60 MPH.

* IMPACTS...DOWNED TREES AND POWERLINES MAY RESULT IN POWER
OUTAGES. MINOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE WILL BE POSSIBLE. DRIVING HIGH
PROFILE VEHICLES IN THESE CONDITIONS WILL BE DANGEROUS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH WIND WATCH MEANS THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A DAMAGING
HIGH WIND EVENT. SUSTAINED WINDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH...OR GUSTS OF
58 MPH OR STRONGER MAY OCCUR. PREPARE FOR POWER OUTAGES. CONTINUE
TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
Now is the time to prepare your equipment for this event.  We'll likely stay in a non-activation alert status unless damage begins to occur.  Please monitor the 146.985 repeater when you can.
