I'll stay south tonight. But I will attempt to send an email via RMS Express and see if that works.
Perhaps a spreadsheet of equipment at various locations that is updated on a regular basis as to being OP vs INOP with a column for problems and fixes and prediction of when it will become OP. Sent out to CARA and ARES so everyone is aware of problem equipment.

Hi David,
RE: CALV-ARES frequency test CANCELLED > was scheduled for May 20, 2014
Cancel the test. Two issues David;
1. The PC at MHCC is inoperative.
2. The K3 radio is inoperative
I heard, never notified, the PC is not working at MHCC. The current ‘plan’ as far as I know is CARA Inc. is back dating the operating system from Window 7 to XP. Also, the K3 radio is not holding channels in memory. Whatever the situation, I am surprised that CARA Inc. Board members were unaware and the CALV EC & RO did not know either. .
We will schedule the test between MHCC & Drum Point once the repairs at MHCC are completed.
It is ironic, as hams we are known to be ‘communicators’ yet we do not communicate.
One solution is to have Station Status’ listed, i.e., MHCC< CCHD< HHS< EOC and DP CSEC, where ARES & R.A.C.E.S. members can check status’ of assets used for EmComm. We MUST remember the only reason the County allows Amateur Radio to have a place on their property is to support them when asked, i.e., emergency communications. Electronic ‘things’ do not always work from time to time which is expected. However, those of use dedicated to EmComms just need to know when those time occur so we do not waste precious human resources running around with our heads cut off. We are much too smart for that to happen!
A few weeks ago, I was reading old CARA Newsletter that listed various status’ related to EmComms. That was a helpful program that needs to be re-established which is why it is an Agenda item on tonight’s meeting.
Since there is no radio testing tonight maybe you will decide to attend tonight’s meeting? If not, have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and remember those who sacrificed for our freedoms which should be every day not just Memorial Day.
73, Dennis
