To: ALL CALV ARES STATIONS

DATE: March 21, 2013

Attached is the latest SITREP form (dated 4 May 2009) that we will be using
going forward. Please DELETE older SITREP forms since they are not designed
to keep the messages flowing.

At our March ARES Meeting we discussed how a SITREP will be sent. We will
be incorporating this into our weekly nets so all can practice receiving and
transmitting messages via the SITREP. You should PRINT a dozen of these off
for our Net practice though the first Net will have only one SITREP message.
In a real activation one will need many more on-hand, perhaps a hundred
blank forms would be a good amount to have on hand.

All Stations are requirement to get the basic understanding how to receive a
SITREP. Then all Stations will be given opportunities to send SITREP
report(s) on our weekly Nets beginning in April. More on this on our March
26th Net. We are all learning this together so there is a responsibility
on everyone to learn to speak slowly so others can copy the message and
practice is needed receiving a message. Just be sure to state > THIS IS AN
EXERCISE MESSAGE when SENDING!!!

In the next months we will be learning how to Send/Receive or keeping
records of other ICS forms such as; ICS-213 General Message, ICS-205 Unit
Log, ICS-214 Individual Log and ICS-205 Incident Radio Communication Plan.

These ICS documents can be found at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/calvert_ares/files/Forms . We realize some of
our members do not like the Yahoo Groups Calvert_ARES website so there are
plans having our own CALV ARES website down the road. In the meantime the
Yahoo Groups site is where these forms can be downloaded. Also, in our
Calvert ARES Ops Binder the forms can copied to obtain more supply of these
forms.

The monthly R.A.C.E.S. Commex Drills held the third Tuesday at 7:30 P.M. (L)
on the CRN [AARC Repeater, 147.105 MHz, PL 107.2 (+)] utilizes SITREP
messages a lot and they are super-fast if one would like to listen. Just
remember this Drill is between EOC's in the CRN and not for stations
elsewhere to join in. R.A.C.E.S has this one-hour every month to practice
per the FCC Rules & Regs. And COMMEX Drills occur September through April.
They are not held over the warm months.

Thanks for your support of CALV ARES and looking forward to hearing everyone
on our Nets.

73, Dennis/N3QHC
