Hello to ALL:
The CALV ARES Planning Committee (N1WR, N3XMZ, N3AE, K3UGA, N3PPH, N3IDX and
N3QHC) has been meeting and drawing up Operations Plans for our ARES group.
Much thanks to Wayne/N1WR for all his dedication and work updating our
documentation. He has spent untold hours working on this for months and
once you see the final products, we are quite sure you will be excited.
There is so much to say but less emails so we can begin distributing our
CALV Strategic Plan and our Operations Plan via RF and exercises.
Following the CARA weekly Monday Net the CALV ARES Net will begin (April 2)
. Our first Net will be an overview what has been happening behind the
scenes. We will do our best to keep the information informative but short.
We will also answer any questions concerning Calvert ARES or R.A.C.E.S.
Then during the CARA General Meeting on Thursday, Bill/N3XMZ, CALV RO and I
(Dennis/N3QHC) will take about 30-minutes for a Power Point presentation on
the differences between ARES and R.A.C.E.S. We want to make sure you know
the differences and how the organizations are related.
Our short range plan is to conduct a CALV ARES Net every week following the
close of the CARA Net on the Sunderland Repeater, 146.985 MHz/r.
We have a lot of infrastructure to build and training in the coming months
and years. There will be classroom training, field exercises and time on
our ARES Net to increase our skill levels. We have really exciting and fun
events ahead and we hope everyone stays supportive. There are several
members with knowledge and experience that we need to help us achieve our
communications objectives. We are going to meet our communication
objectives through team work!
Calvert ARES is a well-recognized ARES organization within the ARRL M-DC
Section. We did slipped backwards for a little while but we have good plans
for our future. A lot of exciting Amateur Radio opportunities and
developments await us!
