Out here (SoCal), the split is indeed 500kc. The PL 
for most machines is 82.5 Hz.  YMMV  8*)  The 6m site
I posted last week has a reasonably current list of
6m repeaters, splits and PL's...

It's actually a bit harder to hit 6m repeaters than
you might guess...  natural and man-made noise both
peak around 50MHz, and (with or without renegade RB's 8*)
there's a lot of junk to wade through at the mountain tops.  
You'll have some luck with an HT, much better luck with 
50-100W from a base or mobile.

SSB activity on 6m is all USB.  The general rule of 
thumb is LSB below 9MHz, USB above...
