Bill,
thanks.
At least you were alert enough on this to be able to identify this issue.
I do agree, many of the scammers are indeed outside the United States, especially the telemarketers, where the boileroom operations are in low-salary countries, but steered by generally honest insurance peddlers who are willing to pay $25 to $75 for each call referral via semi-legit operations in the United States.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sheldon,
I received one of these last year from the same bank. I tracked down the bank and they had no account for which the check was drawn from. The check is a fraud also.
I know someone suggested going to UPS. I would rather have a root canal than deal with those people. You can't get a live person on the phone, beside these scammers are mostly likely out of the country.
The important thing is that we identify the scam and not get burned.
That's my @ cents worth hi hi

Bill,
I understand trashing the check but I wonder if a better tact might have been to forward the check to that bank's fraud department, particularly if the check was a cashier's check or some other official check written by the bank.
If it was a personal check from that "buyer", I understand trashing the check, but again, if it was a cashier's check or offical check, and the check was not valid, I would think that bank's fraud department might want to know how the check was issued and was there any fraud on behalf of anyone in that bank's branch which issued the check.
Just a thought.

Well more emails came in asking for confirmation, with a tracking No. for
USPS priority mail.
I checked just now and they sent a small flate rate envelope, with I guess
one of those fake checks inside.
Gonna just shred it and ignore the emails.
