[Boatanchors] Scammer?

 Bill,
I understand trashing the check but I wonder if a better tact might have been to forward the check to that bank's fraud department, particularly if the check was a cashier's check or some other official check written by the bank.

If it was a personal check from that "buyer", I understand trashing the check, but again, if it was a cashier's check or offical check, and the check was not valid, I would think that bank's fraud department might want to know how the check was issued and was there any fraud on behalf of anyone in that bank's branch which issued the check.

Just a thought.
