[Boatanchors] SCAM Alert - Received A Cshiers Check For $1500.00 Today

Guys,
I received a cashier's check for $1500.00 from a James M Steverson today....drew from  Mascoma Savings Bank in Lebanon, NH. I called the band and they have no record of the check. I am not sure how the scam works but the bank advised anyone receiving one of these checks to not cash it. They said other hams have called in as well. Than's why I am posting here on the reflectors.
