[Boatanchors] Question about radios on WWII airplanes

I don't know of a compilation or spread sheet. The flight manuals for
the aircraft generally have a description of the radio. I will say that
just about every airplane in WWII had a BC-348. There were over 150,000
of them made. Probably the single most common SW receiver ever. Most of
the bombers used the BC-375 transmitter as the "liason communication"
device - that is, talking to home base. They tended to use VHF for
plane-to-plane communications, such as the SCR-274. The "Radio
Operator's Information File" was given to everybody that flew and would
need to know. It described the above three units (BC-348, BC-375 and
SCR-274) so they must have been used across many, many aircraft. I sell
reprints of 8 different WWII flight manuals and they all describe
exactly those three units and no others (except for the B-29). At the
tail end of WWII, Collins equipment started showing up. First mention I
see is in the B-29 flight manual. After the war, there was a
proliferation of models, but curiously enough, the BC-348 continued to
be manufactured into the 1970s (!).

You can find my reprints on ePay by searching my handle, which is
"jamminpower". I also have a "store" there.
Hope this helps.
