Oh yeah, I sold a car full and a buddy sold most of a truckload by Friday
noon. I saw lots of folks wandering by with a wagon of newly-bought gear.
One golf cart was hauling away three R-390(). I forgot to take a photo of
the Racal RA-6790 that a friend bought for $100 including spare boards and
filters.
I saw many sellers from previous years and they almost never had the same
items as last year. Of course the guy with the Howard Mills restored
Collins gear might haul it to a few feats before the right buyer showed up.
And some folks hang on asking too much for less valuable items. Most folks
stick a “starting price” on the gear and are open to fair offers. $400 on a
really nice working R-390A. Sold for $300.. Etc.
C’est la vie.
My photos were taken during Thursday setup and Friday. My last photo was
taken Saturday at 0930 so I bet lots got sold later.
I always put out a Teletype printer strictly as a conversation piece, for
reminiscing veterans as well as curious youngsters. Friendly chats are a
big part of hamfesting.
