Me too Dale! Also values like brown, black and any other color, green, brown and any other color, etc. But then again I've been playing this game for 63 years now. The brain just sorta "goes" there!

My mind seems to work differently Keith. Since I was a young teenager
getting involved in electronics, when I see a resistor color code, I don't
"see" the colors per se- but the numbers.
eg: a resistor of yellow/purple/red immediately  says  4.7K without any
conversion between colors and numbers.
This may be a direct result of sorting thousands of resistors for my cousin
one summer when I was 13.
Anyone else  see it like that?

Thanks for the various inputs on this little adventure.

Just to clear things up, when I work on gear I prefer to do it the old
fashioned way, with no computer or phone. If the manual is online I either
print it out or just the section that has the issue.

Using a dmv can give erroneous results if you read a resistor in line.

My brain likes to only think of one thing at a time (especially as I get
older). Switching gears to mentally calculate resistance for me is a pain.
Inputting colors onto the wheel is a no-brainer.
