Hell all,
Working on a receiver (R-114/VRC-4). I was having some
issues with the IF, so pulled one of the cans out to inspect.
And found that one of the Litz wire leads had broken where it
soldered to the terminal lug. There is about a 1/2" loose flying
lead out of the coil, and continuity to the other end.
What would be the best way to strip the end of this flying lead,
without stressing it too much. I'm afraid of breaking the lead where
it comes out of the bottom of the coil.
Found out that one other coil in another IF can has the same issue.
Funny thing was, the receiver actually was functional, although the
gain was a bit low, and the IF was broader than a barn. The DC paths to
the tubes were provided by the swamping resistors.
Thanks
Jack Antonio
