Recently I was hunting for my RCC from an October 1967 QSO so I could hang it on the wall by my newly acquired Novice station. Over the past 56 some years I would come across it every so often, but not this time. It was last spotted in a filing cabinet some 10 years ago but I couldn't find it this time.
I was able to get a scanned copy of an RCC, and then I used WORD to put my WN9WFA callsign on. Going a tad further, I downloaded a typewriter font that closely matched the original choppy uneven font
Printed it out on my HP Ink Jet printer, the one that goes through cartridges faster than it should, and then to add the final touch - I folded the certificate into threes, just like it was the original. It turned out great! It's thumbtacked to the wall now, and give me good memories when I look at it.
I have a Drake 2-NT, 2-B, 2-BQ and a recently acquired Hallicrafters HA-5, in my BA operating bench. It is a wonderful walk down memory lane, and it's even cooler now having the RCC hanging on the wall.
Yeah, as pointed out earlier, at our 5 words per minute code speed, if we added our age and the weather to the usual report, that easily took the QSO length over 30 minutes.. hi hi It was grand, wasn't it??
