 Walt,
I have owned a bunch of Hickok tube testers and have found the best solution
is to just replace the 83 and be done with it IMO. This how the way Hickok
designed them so modifying that circuit adds doubt to the overall accuracy,
again, just my 2 cents worth. 83 tubes are relatively inexpensive and last
for years.
Good luck with your unit..

Yes, The web is full of solid-state workarounds for the 83 rectifiers. I
have done it, it works. My raw B+ and bias voltages are dead on. I have the
operations/calibration manual. That was not my question. The secondary AC
voltages are reasonable, reflecting today's higher line voltages. I am just
curious about internal voltage readings with different switch settings. I
can calculate these things, but in my lazy old age I was hoping some one had
done that work for me.

A majority of acceptance is not proof of correctness.

FWIW, the 83 is a full wave mercury vapor rectifier. They have a typical
voltage drop of 15V regardless of current. Filament is 5V @ 3Amps. Since
silicon rectifiers are cheap one can simply series several to obtain the
right voltage drop.
There are probably data sheets on the web, I looked in a very old RCA
handbook to find it.

I have the manual with the schematic. But, there are no voltage notes or
