Scott  I owned the NC-155 ten years prior to the NC-270. On the 270 replaced a tube or two did a quick alignment and quickly noticed the 155 was a better reciever although not as attractive. The 270 was very similar to the Gonset G-63 . Adding a Heathkit HD-11 Q multiplier helped  both but not enough to keep either. Good luck with the NC-270. I'm sure there are mods to improve SSB/CW on the radio.
