Hi Nick, Yes it was KB8TAD's website where I saw the NC-270. His 270 page is a wonderful history of the 270 with restoration comments, and advertisements like you say.
I had an NC300 once, and it was a fabulous receiver, in my opinion. That slide rule dial was the smoothest dial I've ever used. It could travel from nearly one end to the other, given a big initial spin.
Was the 270 dial as smooth as the 300?

I had an NC-270 once upon a time. Didn’t impress me IIRC. Would rather use an NC-300 or NC-303. YMMV.
But it definitely is the perfect color for your “mid-century modern” ham shack.
