The newer 3:1 shrink with internal glue makes an even stiffer coupling.

Jeff,
An easy way to put a tuning knob onto a Command Set receiver is to butt a
short piece of ¼ inch shaft up against the gear in the receiver and bind
them together with a short length of heat-shrink tubing. The tubing will
conform to the shape of the gear, and you can put the knob of your choice
onto the shaft. I did that more than thirty years ago to my BC-453, and the
knob is still there working fine.
