Back in 1964 when this receiver was introduced, Trio wrote the entire
manual in Japanese. The manual was then transcribed into English. A lot
of info can get lost in the translation. It was also sold under different
names in Europe. Asia, and the Far East.

The manual you were using was an initial translation and was printed
quickly to get the receiver to market.
On page 2, Technical Specification, under Frequency Coverage, it says
"WWV on 51 Mc" Should be 15 Mc. There were a number of other errors
through out that initial manual.

The second iteration of the manual was better but didn't get any
distribution in the U. S.
The third and final iteration cleaned up most of the errors. I think
there was some minor "Oops" still on the schematic but can't remember
what it was.

The receiver front end expects to see roughly unbalanced 50 to 75 ohm
impedance. Long Wires or balanced line connections can drive the
preselector to receive strange things and is quite critical even with the
proper impedance connections. Strong signals can easily bleed-though the
RF and Mixer sections.

The receiver looked great but had a number of design flaws or omissions
to make it not a great amateur band receiver. I think it only lasted
about 15 months in our Lafayette active product line.
