A friend of mine asked me to look his recently acquired Zenith
trans-Oceanic radio over to see if i could get it working.  This am i
started.  First of all when looking inside i see the dial cord has come
off although it appears to be intact.  Secondly the 1 1/2 volt battery
leads have no connections where it attach's to the battery.  Third, what
was the other battery that was supposed to be in there, 22 1/2 volt or
90 volt?  The wiring is there but of course the battery is gone.  Fourth
the power cord needs replacing as the insulation has opened up and it's
on an under tension rollup wheel inside.  The radio isn't to dirty.
That's as far as i've gone with it.  Oh yes, the pull up antenna is
there and in good shape.  Also the map compartment is there and has the
different maps and charts for time, stations etc.

Found with the maps/charts were some notes showing the times of
broadcasts from HCJB, Voice of the Andes on 19, 25 and 31 meter bands.
VOA at 8:30 AM on 11.9 Mc, 25M.

On 19Mtrs, YNN, Nicaragua, 11.875Mc, Ecuador.  Brazil Low frequency and
19M Tahaiti.

For HCJB on 15.2 Mc it was the Musical Mailbag, 15.32, 15.4 and 15.5 Mc
it was in English.

On 25M, 11.5 Mc was morse, 11.79 Mc wa European & Ireland. 11.80 Mc
Hawaiian and Call of the Andes.  11.90 Mc was DC, whatever that meant.

On 31M, 9.61 Mc there was Music.  At 9.55 Mc the BBC, and 9.5 Mc Vietnam

19M was just shown as HCJB in Quito and a program called Capitol Squadron.

No dates as to when these note4s were made.  Do you remember HCJB, Voice
of the Andes and their cubical quad antenna?  Boy, those were the days.

Anyway, does anyone know of someone who might do repairs on these Zenith
babies?
