[Boatanchors] High-current connection with multiple wires?

Telephone system runs on 48V DC nominal. The CO's I've been inside use
copper bar and just run wires from each supply or battery to the bar all
spread out over a large building. Then from the appropriate wire gauge
to the equipment.

My suggestion would be to have each winding rectified and filtered
individually and combine the resultant DC to a copper bar bus. Then tap
the bar with the appropriate wire size for the equipment in use.
