[Boatanchors] Reality Comes Knocking.

I paired down about 12 years back and I didn't even try to get rich, I sold
them for about what I had in them, low price and parts cost. I kept the 4
radios that has emotional connections and glad to have the room. Recently a
guy sold me a, nice, good working SX42 with the Reproducer speaker for
$100. I like it because of the FM band and plan to keep it. I was really
shocked that he wanted only $100 for the radio.

There are a few young people who still want this stuff, but they aren't
going to pay collector prices. Shipping costs has really dampened the
market, so most people say I won't ship, you have to go pick it up. If the
item is more than a day's trip, it becomes a paperweight.

Mark, You still haven't gotten that 5100 going yet? Boy it has been a
while.

I enjoy my equipment and plan to keep what I have till the last. By then,
no one will care but I will have fond memories.

I sold all but two of my "big" amateur radios about 5 years ago. Got
asking prices from local buyers. Never looked back.

I have a single B&W 5100 that's been in progress for years now and a
DX-100 that I got for $50 somewhere a few years ago. Since the 5100 has
been in progress for years it shows how interested I am in finishing it
(but it will get finished). With the up swing in the solar cycle and 10M
coming alive, I have the impetus to finish it for 10M AM work.
