Western Electric 227B low power "Fishing boat" radio.
Current project. Got it running years ago, now refurbishing.
Really like its looks.

5-8 Watts out, AM. Crystal control Transmit freq,
crystal or tunable receiver (very touchy- needs bandspread).
This looks like the Coast Guard TRC-109B, but is actually
an earlier, 1930s version of that set. The TRC-109B has
an updated, redesigned receiver.
IF of the 227B is 385 KC.

Uses a 12-volt negative ground Vibrator pack.
6L6 power crystal oscillator, single-ended 6L6 modulator.
Receiver 6K8 Mixer, 6K7 IF, 6Q7 Det-AVC-1st Audio, 6V6 PA.
I found the "correct" 5-conductor Litz-wire, cloth-covered
handset cord from a Telephone Collector parts house many
years ago and I sure wish I'd bought an extra. This one
is still fine, but Father Time will have his way eventually.
If anyone has a schematic for the W.E. 227B, I'd be
grateful. Got to grind a larger-blank crystal up
from 3500 to 3505 for the receiver crystal-control
local AM freq, 3890 KC. Have an FT-243 in there
but doesn't provide enough drive. If anyone has
a large-blank crystal between 3480-3495 KC I can
grind for the 3880 receive channel, I'd like to buy it.
So what has your solder smoking these days?
Hope you are all well.
