I am still searching for the manual for the Waveforms 401B audio oscillator.

I managed to locate a schematic and make the repairs, but would like to find the manual anyway.

I was pleasantly surprised to find how simple yet precise the device is. I replaced the 7119 buffer/output tube and all was well again. Tracking of the dial was a bit of trial and error. I did the tracking alignment on the X 1K range and was pleasantly surprised to find the X1, X10 and X100 ranges were dead on.

I was very much relieved to find the 600ohm variable bridged-T attenuator tested good.

Even more surprising was the output calibration. I set the OUTPUT to 1 and the output range to 10. Then adjusted the gain control in the cathode of the oscillator tube for 10vrms into a 600ohm load. When I adjusted the OUTPUT control to 2 the output measured 20 vrms. The rest of the settings of the OUTPUT control were right on also. When I checked the output range at 1, .1, and .01 all were right on. Testing the .001 range is beyond the limits of my test equipment.

Not bad for a 60-year-old test instrument.
