You might also have to watch out for the indexing angle between switch positions.Some rotary switches with more positions use a smaller angle between positions.

Yes, stationary contacts, with what looks like 1 round contact to a pin in
the center common.
So I want to move an entire ceramic wafer over to an otherwise good switch
with 3 ceramic layers which all have 8 positions.
>From what I have read, I probably will need longer screws that hold them
all in line so the new wafer can be attached, which is not a problem, and
perhaps a longer shaft.
I am thinking if the shaft is keyed, then its got to be another 8 position
matching wafer so it lines up like the rest.
Technicly, I only need the far left position to form contact when in that
spot the rest can be all open.
So I guess, yea I can drill out all the other contacts not needed on the
transplanted wafer,
but I am concerned about the alignment.
