I also have a complete Drake 2-Line setup and
recap kits to overhaul them. WRL, Globe, Eico,
and Viking Mobile VFOs to use with the Drakes
(2-NT, 2-C, and 2-CQ).
Have several EIco CMTs and the modulator plus
several HRO-60. What a garage full plus a storage
building

Thanks Mac for the advice on the 6AG7 + parallel 807’s. I will start taking a look that the 50’s designs with the 807’s also. So far I’ve been looking in the mid 60’s Handbooks where they favor 6146’s. I have 7 or 8 of them in the tube box, 1 807 I think :).
Ohhhh the WRL 755 VFO, what a beauty! I owned one many years ago that was paired up with a Drake 2NT, what a fabulous combo! Sold that too.

Look for an ARRL Handbook from the mid to late 1950s.
I built one around 1956 or so from there using a 6AG7
Pierce crystal oscillator and a pair of 807s for final amplifier.
I drove it with a very stable WRL 755 VFO.
I sold it (and a matching plate modulator using 1625s) at a
swapmeet in Brownfield, TX in 1966.
