I just updated the data on the 32 and 37 power transformers. I added the Hallicrafters part # and a couple notes.

I think there is a differrence in one of the windings between the 32 and the 37.

Do the 32 and 37 use the same transformer??

If nothing is connected to any secondary, the problem is the transformer. Can you measure winding resistances or, better, inductances? Removing some of the loads from some of the secondaries isn't enough; you have to remove them all before you can verify that you have a bad transformer.

Blackened wires do not prove anything.

It's a lot of work to remove all the loads but you have to do that anyway if you are going to pull the transformer.

I am pretty certain the power transformer is bad in my newly acquired HT32A...Blows fuses with tubes removed and 60/40 uf cap removed. So am wondering if it has the 5v to HV short? At the bottom of the transformer bell housing the wires coming out are blackened for an inch or two...

Can a mere mortal rewind one of these?? Or am I relegated to try and buy a new one or find a good donor?? What are my options??
