Check out the February ER mag. There is the first of a two part article on mixers.

Subject: [Boatanchors] Mixer Troubleshooting Question For my Homebrew Superhet Novice Receiver
________________________________________________________________________________

Hi Guys, I'm scratching my head over the mixer circuit on my Novice
superhetrodyne receiver project. Mixers should be simple, and I should see
the addition and the subtraction of the LO and RF. I'm seeing diddly squat.

Here is a link to the schematic and some measurement notes around the mixer.
The mixer is getting the RF signal and the HF oscillator but I'm not seeing
what I'm expecting to see at 730 KHz on the spectrum analyzer.

What sort of p-p amplitude should I expect at the output of the mixer on pin
6?

This is just my 2nd homebrew project so I'm still busy learning things. Any
advice or hints would be appreciated. I must be overlooking something
obvious.

Thanks, Scott WA9WFA
