I don't know exactly what you are up against but a tool called "spark 
plug terminal pliers" might help. It's like a long pair of pliers with 
angled, curved and padded ends. HarborFreight used to sell them (that's 
where mine came from) but a search of their site didn't turn it up. NAPA 
has them.
