Subject: [Boatanchors] Morse code - ECN and ACN?

I am attempting to resurrect an early Frederick Electronics Baudot to Morse converter (hundreds of 2N404 transistors and a thousand germanium diodes) with no manual or schematic. Yes I should have my head examined.
There is a mode switch labeled NML-ECN-ACN that is wired to the diode matrix that decodes the 5-bit Baudot pattern to the dit-dah pattern. Does anyone know what ECN and ACN means?
Can you suggest a better forum for asking this question?
