Bill,

I have potential good news for you. I was up in my attic yesterday and found a somewhat cobbled up Globe Scout 680. It looks as though a previous owner had converted it to a single-band rig, probably for either 10 or 6 meters from the looks of the final amplifier plate circuit. The good news is that I just tested the power transformer and it came up OK when I powered it up from a Variac. Both the rectifier plate-to-plate voltage and single-plate-to-ground look good, and the pilot light on the front panel came up as it should so the 6.3 volt filament winding is good too. I haven't checked the rectifier filament as I write this, but it should be OK as well. The slightly bad news is that the power switch on the audio gain control is not working, and there was a blown fuse in the fuse holder, so I had to bypass those two with clip leads to check out the transformer.

But the power transformer seems just fine!

So, now the question seems to be, would you like something from this obvious donor rig? I'd be happy either to disconnect the transformer and send you just that, or to send you the entire rig if you want the rest of it for spare parts.

What say?
