Tnx to all who responded. Y'all had a lot of good suggestions and tips. 

Well, here is the rest of the story. 
(as previously noted...all tubes are pulled) 
I did continuity checks on the secondary. I found that there was no continuity 
from the CT to the outside legs of the secondary winding. However, upon 
checking this again later, I found the continuity was back (DMM ok). So, now 
I have continuity from the CT to the outside legs of the secondary. Another 
however.....the resistance from CT to one leg is 71 ohms and to the other 
leg is 56 ohms.....across the secondary it is 126 ohms. I checked for the 
secondary AC voltage and it is nil (stby/xmit switch in xmit position). Sounds 
terminal to me??
